The closest airport to Wembley is London Heathrow Airport, which is just 9.1 miles or 14.6 kilometres away. The next closest airport, at 15.4 miles, is London City, while London Luton is just 23 miles down the road. With so many airports near Wembley, you should be able to have your pick of the cheapest flights.
How to Get to Wembley from London’s Airports
Heathrow Airport to Wembley
Train and bus
The fastest way to travel from Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Wembley on public transport is by train. You can get the Heathrow Express from Terminals 2 and 3 to London Paddington Train Station. This takes 15 minutes and costs between £22 and £25 (peak or off-peak). You can then get the tube from Paddington Station to Wembley Central Station on the Bakerloo Line. The journey takes an average of 47 minutes in total.
A cheaper but slower route is to get the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow Terminals 2 or 3 to London Paddington. It takes an average of 28 minutes but costs just £4 to £6 (peak or off-peak). You can then take the tube (Bakerloo Line) to Wembley Central Station.
If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take a bus from London Heathrow Airport to Wembley Bus Station via Harrow Bus Station. That’ll take you around 1 hour and 23 minutes.
Taxi
A taxi from London Heathrow to Wembley takes around 23 minutes (traffic permitting) and costs between £35 and £50.
London City Airport to Wembley
Train and bus
The cheapest option is to hop on the tube. It takes around 1 hour and 4 minutes but costs as little as £4. At the London City Airport DLR Station, take the Docklands Light Railway to Canning Town DLR Station. Then transfer to Canning Town Underground Station and take the Jubilee Line to Wembley Park Underground Station. You then have a 10-minute walk to Wembley.
We recommend avoiding a bus-only route, as it will take you over three hours to reach Wembley.
Taxi
The fastest way to travel from London City Airport to Wembley is by taxi, which only takes around 38 minutes (traffic permitting) but costs between £60 and £80.
Luton Airport to Wembley
Train and bus
The quickest way to get from Luton Airport (LTN) to Wembley on public transport is to get the Line 888 bus from Luton Airport to the Luton Airport Parkway Rail Station. From there, you can get the Thameslink train to West Hampstead. At West Hampstead, transfer to the underground and ride the Jubilee Line for five stops to Wembley Park Station. The whole journey takes just over an hour.
Alternatively, if you prefer fewer transfers, you can get the 757 bus from the airport bus station to Brent Cross Centre North Circular Road. Then walk 10 minutes to the Brent Cross Shopping Centre and get the 182 bus to Wembley Stadium. This route takes a little longer, with an average travel time of 1 hour and 14 minutes.
Taxi
A taxi from Luton Airport takes around 36 minutes (traffic permitting) and costs between £55 and £75.
Coach
National Express runs a coach service from Luton Airport to London Golders Green that takes 50 minutes and costs £7. At Golders Green, you can then get the 83 bus from Hopp Lane Golders Green bus stop (Stop A) to Wembley Park and then walk the 10 minutes to Wembley.
Gatwick Airport to Wembley
Train and bus
The journey from Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Wembley takes at least 1 hour and 15 minutes on public transport. Take the Thameslink train to London Bridge from Gatwick Airport, then transfer to London Bridge Underground Station and hop on the Jubilee Line to Baker Street. After that, ride the Metropolitan Line two stops to Wembley Park Underground Station and then walk the 10 minutes to Wembley.
As with London City Airport, we wouldn’t recommend a bus-only journey from Gatwick to Wembley, as it will take you over three hours.

A taxi journey from Gatwick Airport to Wembley takes just over an hour (traffic permitting) and costs between £100 and £130.
Stansted Airport to Wembley
Train
It takes between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours 20 minutes to travel from Stansted Airport (STN) to Wembley on public transport. The fastest route is to get the Stansted Express train to London Liverpool Street Station. You can then transfer to Liverpool Street Underground and ride the Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park Station. That’ll cost you between £20 and £30 depending on the time of day.
Taxi
A taxi from Stansted Airport to Wembley takes around 55 minutes (traffic permitting) and costs between £90 and £110.
Coach
The cheapest way to travel from London Stansted to Wembley is to get a National Express coach to London Golders Green and then take the 83 bus from Golders Green to Wembley Stadium. That takes 2 hours and 14 minutes but costs just £7 to £8.
Southend Airport to Wembley
Train and bus
The fastest way to travel from Southend Airport (SEN) to Wembley is to take the Great Anglia train from the airport to Liverpool Street Station. You can then transfer to Liverpool Street Underground Station and hop on the Metropolitan Line, riding the nine stops to Wembley Park Underground Station. That takes around 1 hour 40 minutes and costs between £19 and £29.
We recommend avoiding the bus, as the journey can take nearly five hours.
